Making History: Dr Hadiyah-Nicole Green Becomes the First Doctor to Cure Cancer Using Nanoparticles

Dr Hadiyah-Nicole Green, a multidisciplinary physicist and the second African American woman to receive a PhD in physics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has been awarded a $1.1 million grant to advance a technology she pioneered using laser-activated nanoparticles to treat cancer.
Dr Green's revolutionary nanoparticle technology, which she developed as the founder of the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation, does not require patients to undergo chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery and has been shown to successfully cure cancer in mice after only 15 days of testing.
According to Black Culture News, Dr Green's interest in cancer treatment stems from her aunt, Ora Lee, who passed away from cancer, and her uncle, General Lee Smith, diagnosed with cancer and suffered from the negative side effects of traditional chemotherapy treatment.
Dr Green's desire to find a better way to combat cancer led her to earn a bachelor's degree in physics and optics from Alabama A&M University and a master's degree in physics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, both on full scholarships. After receiving her degrees, she worked for five years at the Comprehensive Cancer Center and one year at the Department of Pathology.
Dr Green began working as an assistant professor at Tuskegee University's Department of Material Science and Engineering after completing her graduate studies. She later became an assistant professor in the Physiology Department at Morehouse School of Medicine.
With a goal of making cancer treatment more accessible, Dr Green's Ora Lee Smith Research Foundation continues to fight cancer with affordable and effective laser-activated nanoparticles whilst also devoting time to assisting young Black students.
Thank you for your dedication to the field of medicine and research in the advancement of cancer treatment, Dr Hadiyah-Nicole Green.
