Savita Kaye on Creating Change and Pushing Diversity and Inclusion in the Fashion World

Back to London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2021, Founder and CEO of House of iKons, Savita Kaye, showcased the importance of, ‘Pushing diversity in every way from various ethnic backgrounds, shapes, sizes and ages.'
Diversity, or shall we say, lack of, continues to be an ongoing issue within the creative industry. House of iKons, an official Associate to the International World Fashion Council, and one of the 'Top SIX Innovative Brands Worldwide,' continues to disrupt the Fashion World while pushing the need for diversity and inclusion to the forefront.
Pulling in over 1,000 attendees per day, from high net worth individuals, buyers, department stores to boutiques, House of iKon's influence has seen their designers go from working with the likes of Michelle Obama, Jlo, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, to name just a few, to being hand-picked to become wardrobe designers for feature films.
"We will continue each season highlighting beauty and creativity not just in design and music but for all regardless of colour, ethnicity, size, shape
and sexual orientation; as everyone has the right to feel and look good, feel confident about who they are in the here and now! Everyone has that right and we will continue to push boundaries and stereotypes. We are still a small drop in this big ocean... But we will continue to create a storm and bring beauty and creativity to whoever you are, where ever you are, from around the world," Kaye states.
House of iKons 2020, 'Digital Diaries,' focused on 'An intimate insight into the world of (our) iKons', highlighting the beauty and creation of global designers taking viewers through relationships, friendships, love, laughter and a passion for life. Whilst enabling viewers to connect with the designer's stories from the start of their careers within the fashion industry and inspirations viewers were also provided with details of how the pandemic impacted their favourite designers and their businesses too.
February 2021, saw the theme of ‘Uniting the World of Creativity, stemmed from the beauty and creativity of designers having the ability to reach a global audience regardless of the pandemic.
Sponsored by; Girl Meets Brush, The Fashion Life Tour and Zarya Azadi, ‘Uniting the World of Creativity, focused on designers unique constructions from around the world ranging from menswear, womenswear to children and pre-teens in a high-end fashion film premiered on the House of iKons official YouTube channel as well as Amazon Prime, ROKU and AppleTV.
"All industries are going through major changes, restructures. Consumers may not have the high disposable incomes that they are used too, to purchase high-end designer brands (as the big brands are feeling the pinch too!) But one thing I do know, people around the world still want to look good in what they wear.
Fashion plays a big part in our mental health. If we look good, we feel good. Our confidence increases and there is a positive impact on our personal and professional lives.
I truly believe that the silver lining from this pandemic is that emerging creatives will do well as consumers will still want to buy beautiful fashionable pieces, which are sustainable, unique and affordable. It's time for our iKons to be noticed and start taking over the market. They will become profitable and established businesses," says Kaye.
"With so much negativity and division in the world we live in now, the one way to unite and bring people together is through beauty and what better way than our genius and talented iKons," Kaye continued.

This year February 2021 season, House of iKons went the extra mile by waiving the full fee for all their designers, a way of Savita Kaye, contributing and giving back to the creative industry, one of the industries most impacted.
Let's hope the lockdown can finally be lifted so we can enjoy the ambience and buzz of House of iKons September 2021 live Fashion Show.
